Hey all! I planned on posting this little quip earlier in the day but it was a busy day for the Santanastasio's at that. First I have to say that I am so glad to be done with Valentines Day. This year was so crazy with the cards and the chocolates and the candy grams and dont forget the class parties for all the kids. It was unreal how much time and energy went into today I am just glad that is is over. I have to back up for the reason why this has been an exhausting day. One would think that with all the mass marketing and commercialism of todays hottest "it" theme be it High School Musical, Hannah Montana or Dora the Explorer that you would have a kid who saw the premade little classmate note cards all ready to go and want to snatch them up immediately But NOOOOOOOOOOOO. Not my kids. Alexa has proven to be the most creative and generous and kind hearted person I think I have ever met. This year she has decided that she wants to make her own valentines and that "I" had to come up the the perfect idea. Well this has been a month long project that ended with me racing till the deadline sitting in the school parking lot this morning putting the finishing touches for her. She decided to take a small cup, write a few sweet words around it and fill it with various candies and then stick that in a cellophane bag and wrap it with pink ribbon. Attached to the cup was another note with a special somethign for each person she was giving a valentine to! As cute as this project started it once we realized how long this was going to take I was fit to be tied. She ahd a vision and there was not bribing her with the store bought cards. We were committed!! (or should be committed not sure yet) Anyway, when it was all said and done we had (and try to keep up) 10 girls from her hip hop class, 12 girls in her ballet class, 30 girls in her company class, 10 girls in her tumbling class, 19 students in her 2nd grade class all the rest of the 17 other kids she knows in the other 12 second grades in her school and then her two sisters. That was just the preparation. Then we had her class party which go figure I was in charge of and we did a sign language I love you craft, followed by a sweetheart scramble word scramble, valentine word finder sheet and I LOVE YOU Bingo and then they passed out there class cards!!!. That was the morning. Onwards to Ashley's class who had 10 girls in her dance class and 12 children in her preschool class. Her party immediately followed my oldest daughters so I had to leave one sugar scene to go to the other. My poor two year old was such a trooper though she just kept moving along from desk to desk and silently stealing lollipops. All in all it was a great day absolutely exhausting and just when I thought my efforts went unnoticed. I had my dance class this evening and had to leave the kids at home with my husband for an hour when I got home and opened my computer to start out this lengthy post. I got the best Valentines gift of all. There was a hand written note with a picture from my daughter Alexa that made my day and probably will give me strength to get through the next 100 years. She wrote:
Happy Valentines Day Mom
